Who Is Joshua Lim? Malaysian Filmmaker, Producer & Photographer Behind Precious Media Production

I’m Joshua Lim. I’m a producer and filmmaker based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and I run Precious Media Production — commercial, corporate film, event and live production. I picked up a camera and started shooting professionally in 2011 — 15 years in the industry now.

The short version

• Name: Joshua Lim
• What I do: Producer, filmmaker and photographer
• Company: Precious Media Production, founded 2018
• Based in: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
• Shooting professionally since: 2011
• What I work on: Commercial video, corporate film, creative direction, videography, commercial photography, event and live production
• Studied at: The One Academy — Diploma in Digital Animation, Commercial and Advertising Art

What do I actually do, day to day?

Depends on the project, honestly. Some weeks I’m behind the camera shooting. Other weeks I’m on the phone with a client working through a budget, or sitting in an edit bay. I wear three hats — producer, filmmaker, photographer — and most of my clients hire me because they don’t want to coordinate three separate people for one shoot.

How I got into this

I graduated from The One Academy with a Diploma in Digital Animation, Commercial and Advertising Art, and started shooting professionally in 2011.

Before Precious Media Production, there was DeAmore Wedding House

Precious Media Production wasn’t my first company. From 2015 to 2017, I founded and ran DeAmore Wedding House, a photography studio in Petaling Jaya specialising in wedding and event photography. I handled the whole process myself — client consultations, planning, shooting, editing, final delivery — plus the studio operations, sales and packages side of running a small business.

Why I started Precious Media Production

I started Precious Media Production in September 2018, moving from wedding and event photography into commercial and corporate film work.
